Out of the Shadows 2024

I'm walking to promote suicide awareness and acknowledge those battling mental health

While there is no exact number, it is estimated that over 65, 000 Australians attempt  to take their own life every year - tragically, over 3000 of these attempts are successful.

That's an average of 9 people a day who lose their lives to suicide - 9 people who thought of suicide as the only way out.

Services such as Lifeline receive more than a million contacts from people in crisis every year; truly an overwhelming number.

For World Suicide Prevention Day (taking place on September 10th), I plan to walk 9km for the 9 lives lost daily, in order to raise funds for Lifeline to provide suicide prevention and support services.

Together we can lower the number - we can support each other through the times when the light has gone out, we can create a future worth living.

My impact so far

I've raised $263 so far to answer 6 calls for Lifeline's crisis support hotline to connect and bring hope to people in crisis.

With your support, we can ensure that no person has to face their darkest moments alone.
