Out of the Shadows 2024

I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis

Tragically, every year over 65,000 Australians attempt to take their own life and over 3,000 Australians die by suicide.

Mental health may be invisible…it doesn’t mean it’s not there. Unlike a broken arm, you cannot sign a physical cast. A bandaid is only temporary and ink washes off.

Lifeline receives over 1 million contacts from people in crisis each year. That in itself shows the devastation around us.

Suicide without a doubt has devastating impact on friends and loved ones.

For World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept 10), I will be taking part in Out of the Shadows and walking for the 9 people lost to suicide every day.

I'm walking to raise funds for Lifeline to provide suicide prevention services and support for Australians in need.

Suicide prevention is not all about raising money, many peoples personal circumstances differ financially and situationally.

A meaningful hug, shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, without sounding “clique” 100 % can make a difference.

I will be doing this walk regardless of any funds donated.

If in a position to, I encourage you support the walk or sponsor me to help those in crisis. Most people suffer in silence. Which is not a world I want for myself or anybody else to live in.

What goes around comes around.

Treat people how you’d like to be treated

Knowledge is power, but what is power without a mate.

The “she’ll be right attitude” is simply not enough.

Make an impact

Just $39 will enable Lifeline to answer a call to connect and bring hope to 1 person in crisis.

With your support, we can ensure that no person has to face their darkest moments alone.
