I’m walking to remember those lost to suicide and to make mental health assistance more accessible
Every year over 65,000 Australians attempt to take their own life and over 3,000 Australians die by suicide.
Lifeline receives over 1 million contacts from people in crisis each year.
I have struggled with suicidal thoughts since the age of 14 and have found help in lifeline and crisis lines during my darkest hours. It is so incredibly important to me to make sure mental health support is accessible to everyone because I would not be here without adequate intervention. I am so lucky to still be here to share my story but so many people are not.
For World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept 10), I will be taking part in Out of the Shadows and walking 9KM for the 9 people lost to suicide every day.
I'm walking to raise funds for Lifeline to provide suicide prevention services and support for Australians in need. $39 is the cost of 1 call, which can save a life.
My impact so far
I've raised $252 so far to answer 6 calls for Lifeline's crisis support hotline to connect and bring hope to people in crisis.
