I'm walking to remember my sister. Kristine.

Kristine was my beautiful older sister. The good looking one that was always the center of attention. Loved by all who knew her and admired by all who didn't.

Kirstine was my best friend for 39 years.

Always shining bright, Kirstine was always smiles for everyone, but what was behind the light, was the things she never spoke of and neither did I, we were taught to be that way.

To be seen and not heard.

In 2013, the things unspoken became too much for Kirstine, and tragically that light went out.

The silence that followed has been deafening.

Eleven years later, the pain of losing her to suicide still lingers.

But I refuse to let her memory fade, or to let others suffer in silence.

That's why I'm walking 9km to raise funds for suicide prevention.

Every step is for her, and for every person battling the darkness alone.
