Out of the Shadows 2024

Forever in our hearts

Louise

24/05/1980 - 27/11/2020

27km completed!

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day.

Today I walked 27km to remember Louise & raise awareness around suicide.

Thank you for everyone's generous donations - I have exceeded my goal and these funds will help Lifeline deliver services to those in crisis.

Please never be afraid to reach out.

Donations doubled today!

In just under 2 weeks I will be walking 27km to raise awareness around suicide.

All donations made today are being doubled by Lifeline’s partner!

Please consider supporting me in raising funds to help Lifeline deliver services to people in need. 9 people die by suicide every day in Australia. That is 9 too many.

I am walking not only for Louise, but for all the friends and colleagues I have lost to suicide. Suicide does not discriminate. In my work as a paramedic I attend patients experiencing mental health crises nearly every shift, and often multiple times a shift. In the lead up to World Suicide Prevention Day, we need to raise awareness around suicide in our communities.

Thank you to everyone who has generously donated so far. Together we have already raised $839 for Lifeline.

2024 Out of the Shadows Walk

On World Suicide Prevention Day (10 September), I will be walking to remember my half-sister Louise. It is now nearly 4 years since Louise died by suicide.

Last year I raised over $1500 for Lifeline by walking 18km. I'd love to be able to raise some more money this year, and have set a loftier goal of 27km for my walk (3km for each of the 9 people who die by suicide every day in Australia).

Any donation, however small, is greatly appreciated. If you're not in a position to donate your love and support is still just as meaningful. Spreading awareness around suicide and suicide prevention is such an important cause and one very close to my heart.

I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis

Tragically, every year over 65,000 Australians attempt to take their own life and over 3,000 Australians die by suicide.

Lifeline receives over 1 million contacts from people in crisis each year.

Suicide has devastating impact on friends and loved ones.

For World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept 10), I will be taking part in Out of the Shadows and walking for the 9 people lost to suicide every day.

I'm walking to raise funds for Lifeline to provide suicide prevention services and support for Australians in need.

Please support my walk and sponsor me to help those in crisis.

Together, we can ensure that no one has to face their darkest moments alone.

My impact so far

I've raised $1,432 so far to answer 36 calls for Lifeline's crisis support hotline to connect and bring hope to people in crisis.

With your support, we can ensure that no person has to face their darkest moments alone.
