I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis

I lost my Dad on a hot February Friday. I had been at a funeral all day, nursing a hangover with a flat phone battery. I was 18 years old. Dad had bought me some salmon and told me he would cook it for me another night when I left the house on Thursday evening. 

Grief is painful, grief caused by suicide is excruciating. That is why I am so motivated to raise funds for Lifeline, in the hopes I can prevent at least one person from feeling like it is their only option, preventing one family picking up the pieces left behind. 

This year, I’m increasing my walk to 12km - one for each year without my Dad. Any donation, large or small is appreciated beyond measure 🤍

Tragically, every year over 65,000 Australians attempt to take their own life and over 3,000 Australians die by suicide. 

Lifeline receives over 1 million contacts from people in crisis each year.

Suicide has devastating impact on friends and loved ones.

For World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept 10), I will be taking part in Out of the Shadows and walking for the 9 people lost to suicide every day.

I'm walking to raise funds for Lifeline to provide suicide prevention services and support for Australians in need.
